Parlpuru Ninji Kari (Health Centre)
The Health Centre is often the first point of contact for clients, formal referral systems have been established to link clients with services they will need to access to enjoy well-being. Clients may be referred to our other sections for things such as counseling and exercise programs, and are also referred to outside organisations.
In 2009 funding was received to build a brand new Health Centre, which was officially opened by Minister for Indigenous Health, Warren Snowdon, in 2010. Since opening the daily client intake has doubled, and increased our ability to host specialist clinics. On average the Health Centre will see about 70 plus clients per day, depending on the number of clinicians available.
The Health Centre has the following areas - General Practice, Dental and Administration. The General Practice area is enhanced by clinicians specialising in the areas of Women’s Health, Children’s Health, Men’s Health, Ear Health and Chronic Renal Diseases Management.
The Health Centre also has Aboriginal Health Workers (AHW) who are supported by the clinicians. There is currently a shortage of AHW’s Territory wide, and Anyinginyi is always looking for people who may be interested in becoming an AHW.
